Video Description

Steven Heydemann, senior adviser for Middle East Initiatives at USIP and an adjunct professor at Georgetown, suggests broadening U.S. engagement with the Syrian opposition by establishing a more serious framework for how the international community can support them and how those arming the Free Syrian Army - namely Saudi Arabia and Qatar - can better coordinate their efforts.

From the Middle East Policy Council's 69th Capitol Hill Conference, "Crisis in Syria: What Are the U.S. Options?" This event was held July 23, 2012, in the Rayburn House Office Building in Washington, DC. Full video and an unedited transcript can be found at www.mepc.org.
