Everyone has been asking how I wrote this song so fast. Truth is I wrote this song back in the early 90s. I received a call at the studio and was invited to come to Harah Arena in Dayton, OH to George's show one afternoon by Ron Gaddis of the Jones Boys. Ron and I go way back to my years when I lived in Louisville, KY. He left back stage passes at 'will call' for me and my wife at that time. I got held over at the studio until 4am and didn't get to go to the show. As I laid down to go to sleep, my wife woke and asked if I had went to see George without her. I just replied NO!!! I was aggravated at the fact that we didn't get to go. I simply said, "I'm so busy anymore, the next time I see George, he might be dead." I must have went to sleep with that on my mind because I had a dream of his passing. The dream came to me like 35mm slides. My memory was working overtime sifting through the years. The next morning, I remembered every picture so vividly. It bothered me every day for over a week because I didn't want to write this song. But, finally, I gave in just to get it off my mind. It was finished in about 15 minutes; then my thoughts cleared. It's been on the shelf ever since. It's now been 19 years since that day. Now, you all know the truth about the song. contact Darrell Marcum 513-889-3512
